Today was our very first day of school this year and I thought it went great! I was so excited to see all of my new students! They are all very sweet, and very smart!!! It is very clear that we will be having a very good year together!

Don't forget to send in all of your forms as soon as possible, and don't forget to do your homework!!!

I worked again today in our classroom! I have been working a lot in our classroom the past few days, and I believe it is finished! Almost. I just need to rearrange some parts of my desk. I have arranged the student desks, added nameplates, and put your textbooks into your cubbies. I cleaned everything to a fresh new shine, and put up some new bulletin boards! I am going to go back in tomorrow, and I am going to take some pictures of everything! I will try to put them on the website tomorrow evening so you can see what your new classroom looks like! I think I am going to go do some reading! I'll post again soon!!!

Whistle While You Work

I have still been working in our classroom! I have worked for about 4 days now. Here's what I have been up to!

On Friday the 18th, then this past Monday and Wednesday, I worked on our posters. I had to rehang a bunch of them because they fell over the summer. I also rearranged the room from how it looked last year.

This past Friday I finished our classroom library! I bought a lot of books this summer for you to read! Then I went through and put the Accelerated Reader book level and points on them! I have 40 more books coming next week, and then I will be finished with that project.

Tomorrow, I am going to work on dusting our student computers and getting them all plugged back in and working. We will be working a lot on the computers this year! I even hope to teach you how to type during our time in the computer lab. I am also going to move the student desks around in a different way. I am hoping to finish this week.

Be looking for a postcard from me in the mail! I hand wrote each of you a greeting that you will find in the mail this week! I hope you enjoy them!

With just over 2 weeks until school starts, I hope you all are getting ready!!! I am so excited to meet you all!

Off to School I Go!

Well kiddos, you don't come back until the 13th for school, but I have already started! I worked in our room for a few hours yesterday straightening things up and rearranging. My hope is to finish the room sometime next week. When I get it finished, I will post some pictures for you all to see!

Fourth grade is my favorite grade to teach and I think you all will have a great year! We have so many fun things to do and interesting things to learn!

I am getting ready for my birthday on Wednesday! I will be turning 28. I feel older already!

I will post again soon, I hope you all are enjoying your last days of summer break!!!

How to Use Our Blog!

Well, I am finally figuring this whole blog thing out. It has taken a few hours, but I think I just about have it ready!

To comment on a post, click the area where it says a number and comments, for example, if there are no comments yet, it says "0 comments". You would click "0 comments" and a new page loads with a big box for your comment. I set it up so that I have to approve all new blog comments before they load, there will be a note about that too. Below that it asks you about a Google ID, etc. Just choose the dot by "Anonymous" and type your name. You DO NOT have to register to leave a comment!!!

The tiny envelope is to email the blog post and comments to a friend.

The music player is at the bottom of the page, so if you don't want to hear the music, click the pause button. It looks something like this ". That will turn the music off. If you don't like the song, you can choose the name of any song in the playlist and click it to play that particular song.

To get back to our homepage, click the link just above the music player that says "Go Home!" and it will take you back to our main page! I hope you like our blog and I can't wait to read your comments!!! Let me know what you think!

Welcome to our class blog!

Hi Everyone! My name is Mrs. Smith and I am a 4th grade teacher at Wyan-Pine Grove Elementary in Kentucky. I am creating this blog to keep my students and parents updated on things that are occurring in our class. I hope that each of you are having a restful and relaxing summer! I know I have! I had a great vacation last week in Gatlinburg with my family! We really had a good time!

So far this summer, I have been working on a lot of things, mainly our new website! I hope you like what I have done with it so far. I envision much more for it, and I plan to continue working on it some more before school starts, so check back often for updates!

I am going to start going to work on our classroom this week. I had to box up and put away a lot of things so the janitors could thoroughly clean our classroom. I am planning to unpack the boxes, change some bulletin boards, and get everything organized and ready for our school year to begin on August 13th!
